Is there a “best way” to clean gutters?

There are gutter vacuums… pressure hoses… remove by hand… grass blower

And… the answer is…

It depends on your home…

One method is not better than the other 100% of the time.

So to truly answer the question…

What is the best way to clean gutters?

I’m going to briefly look at the different situations where each gutter cleaning method has its place, so you can decide which one is the best one for you.

1 to 2 story home with no gutter guards:

This will be most homes. Either method is great for your standard, everyday home.

Getting your gutters cleaned by hand or with a vacuum will both deliver great results.

1 to 2 Story home with gutter guards:

Whenever you have gutter guards, the better option for your gutter cleaning is the “Clean by Hand” companies.

A lot of gutter cleaning companies who use vacuums, don’t like to get their hands dirty, so they don’t like to remove your gutter guards or move your tiles back, to make it easier to clean your gutters.

1 to 2 story home in the rain:

When it’s raining, it’s impossible to get on a roof and clean your gutters. It becomes slippery, even with a harness, and most times your gutter cleaning will have to be rescheduled.

In this case, companies with vacuum cleaners are a better option. They usually can clean 1 and 2 story homes from the ground.

They run an extension hose up and it loops down into your gutter. This way you can still have your gutters cleaned while it’s raining.

House with water from rainwater tanks:

You have to be careful who you use when you get your water from rainwater tanks. If you hose your gutters out, you’ll be filling your drinking water with contaminants and will need to get your tank drained, cleaned, and refilled.

You have 2 options when it comes to cleaning gutters that feed rainwater tanks…

  1. Disconnect the storm pipe that connects to your storage tank.
  2. Vacuum your gutters instead of flushing them.

I like to disconnect the storm pipe to the tank but if your tank is underground or under your home, sometimes that’s not possible.

In this case, you have no option but to get your gutters vacuumed.

All of the gutter cleaning situations I’ve listed above… I can help you with…

I have a “3 Step Gutter Cleaning System” that gives you the most thorough gutter cleaning on the Mornington Peninsula or your money back.

Some Gutter Cleaning Services use Vacuums while others clean by hand…

Our “3 Step Gutter Cleaning System” uses both methods:

  • We clean by hand to get into those places the gutter vac guys won’t.
  • We spray your gutters out with a hose.
  • Then we use a vacuum to remove the dirt that the “clean by hand guys” leave behind.

That’s how we can offer you:
